How to get a healthy lawn?

It does not happen overnight unless you purchase sod. But here are my best tips in order of importance.

Cut the lawn higher.
Water only when it needs it.
Fertilize with granules and liquid. Minimum 6 times a year.
Spray liquid pesticides to prevent damage from lawn blade pest.
Spread granular pesticides in March through June to prevent larval infestations.
Spread pre-emergent herbicides November through January.
